A California native Judith Sanders interest in art started at a very young age. Both parents were artists and encouraged her. Later living in Newport Beach California she was inspired by art from the local area and Laguna. Judith has always gravitated to the human form, Animals and whimsy. She works in various mediums, but prefers acrylics and mixed media.
Judith enjoyed a career in Graphic Art working in advertisement and printing. She has taught art as an instructor for Clark Continuing Education, Medallion School of Art, and The Avalon Gallery. teaching basic drawing, watercolor, Collage and acrylics.
Her life has afforded her with many traveling opportunities. She flew with a commercial charter airlines to Europe and with her parents and late husband lived in many parts of the country. She has been a member of the St. Louis Artist Guild, St. Louis Missouri, Southwest Washington Art Association, Oregon Society of Artists , NWWS, and the Southwest Washington Watercolor Society, which she is still a charter member, serving on the board and as president. In addition she has been recognized by her peers winning several awards for her art in the society shows over the years.
Judith has been represented by several local northwest art galleries, the Freed Gallery, Lincoln City, OR, The Fires Eye Gallery, Sheridan, OR, the Aurora Gallery, Vancouver, WA, Navado Gallery, Camas, WA, and the 2nd Story Gallery, Camas, WA. Her work has also been exhibited in competitions, shows and, businesses throughout the Portland area. Presently her work is displayed at the Aurora Gallery, Vancouver, Washington.
Judith attended Clark College, Vancouver WA, Nazareth College Rochester, NY, And Seminole Community College, Sanford, FL. Majoring in Art. She has studies under several well known artists and has taken several workshops and classes keep her work fresh, always with an eye for a new approach to painting.
Judith Lives in Ridgefield, Washington with her husband Gary and her cat Sassy. She paints under the name J.K. Sanders.
